Understanding spatial access to medications assisted treatment for opioid use disorder

The crisis of deaths from opioid overdose persists in the United States and Impoverished individuals and those covered by Medicaid are disproportionately affected by the opioid crisis.Despite the availability of efficacious medications for treatment of opioid use disorder, treatment gaps exist. Travel burden and cost are two key barriers to treatment. This work will characterize and understand the state of public transportation travel burden to facilities offering medications for opioid use disorder in the Greater Boston Area.
